There is a ‘fingers trick’ you can use to learn most of the nine times table:
Hold your ten fingers in front of you. If you want 4 x 9, then fold down your 4th
finger from the left. You see three fingers to the left of this folded finger and
six fingers to the right. So the answer to 4 x 9 is thirty six.
Try it again with 7 x 9. Fold down your 7th finger from the left. You see six fingers
to the left of the folded finger and three fingers to the right. So the answer to
7 x 9 is sixty three.
The fingers trick covers up to 10 x 9. If you need 11 x 9 then 10 x 9 is 90; then
add another 9 to make 99.
